Math, April. 26- Cow is neither only the Hindu’s
property, nor only confined to worhship, instead it is
an animal contributes a great to the eco-balance, said
Swamy Suvarnananda Saraswathi of Delhi.
Speaking at press meet here on Wednesday he said, not
only ours, even the scientists at United Nations are concentrating
on investigation about cow. Americans are coming forward
to pay 10 dollor for 25 Ouns of cow’s urine. Time
is come to accept the cow as a universal property, he
added.
Scientists are conducting research on snakes, butterflies
and frogs. But, why not they conduct research on cow,
he questioned.
Don’t underestimate cow which has the capacity to
convert the sterile land into fertile one, he added. |

Pilot
survey for cow breeds development
Ramachandrapur Math, April. 26- A report on pilot survey
conducted on cow breeds in the State has been submitted
to the State government and is expected to get its nod
during 11the financial plan, veterinary university dean
Prof. M G Govindaiah has said.
Speaking at the press meet here on Wednesday he said,
preference has been given to the rearing of bull breeds
like Amruth Mahal, Hallikar and Devanai. Artificial
conceiving is not suits to desi breeds, he added.

A project
for the development of Malnad dwarf breed has been prepared
at an estimated cost of Rs. 60 lakh and sought union
government’s nod. Shimoga, Hassan, Chikmagaluru,
Davanagere, Chitradurga, Mangalore districts would get
benefits from the project, he said.
‘Go shale’ would be started at 27 districts
in the State under Suvarna Karnataka breed development
project in which farmers who have minimum 20 acre land
and having a knowledge in desi breed could start ‘go
shale’. They could avail the grants upto Rs.10
lakh for the same in a phased manner, he said.
Veterinary university has urged the government to distribute
bulls to farmers through gram panchayaths and a proposal
for the same is under government’s consideration,
he added.
