April 23 : Panel Discussion on Cow
 

Ramachandrapura math( Hosanagara), April 23-
On the occasion of Vishwa Gou sammelana( world conference on Indian breed cattle) , Gou Vichara Manthana (symposium on cow) was held here on Monday. Experts from all over the country presented their papers on various aspects of cow with scientific attitude. Panel discussion was also held in which national and international experts were participated.
Dr. Jayan K.C. from Ernakulam, Kerala Spoke on the subject - Ensuring the survival of Indian breed cattle. He said, 88 per cent of cattle breeds in Kerala are cross breed which is highest in India. But, 25 per cent of populations in Kerala still prefer native cows (Nada Pashu).
Adding, more than 5 lakh families in the State are rearing this type of cows, because they are viable and could be reared by nourishing the wastage of the kitchen. He highlighted the Vechur Cattle conservation efforts which was very much appreciated by every one.

Brahmadatta Pattambi, a farmer who conserves Vechur was felicitated on the occasion. He is the member of Vechur Conservation Trust, Kottayam. While sharing his experience in this field he said, native cattle conservation can be successful only if Government supports the people's participation. The Government should supply local breed Semen also. But, Government policy has not changed, he lamented.

SANTHA SAMAVESHA
Ramachandrapura math( Hosanagara), April 23- Third day Of Vishwa Gou sammelana( world conference on Indian breed cattle) attracts huge crowds including Saints, Seers and general public. Saints and Seers who participated in the Sammelana discussed various things about the cow. At the end of the Sammelana a forum comprising Saints for the protection of local breed cattle was formed.

Sri Viviktananda Swamiji of Chinmaya Mission of Kasaragodu was graced the occasion.

Ramachandrapura math ( Hosanagara), April 23-The ritual of weighing of the Sacred Cow with precious items, is another attraction of the world conference on Indian breed cattle. In this ritual the same quantities of items like pepper, areca nut, coconut, paddy, rice etc are used par with the weightage of cow. Kapila, a Kasaragodu variety cow was selected for the same for the first time.
Kapila is a special variety of cow breed as its milk contains more medicinal value and it is considered as spiritual Cow. Only few people rear it as a strange belief prevails in the people that the people with SATHWIK behavior should only rear it. It is brown in coloure, glassy Eyes, gorojana a special thing formed in its brain having a fragrance which spreads when it breaths.
S.N. Bhat Arjunaguli, Neerchal of Kasaragodu on behalf of Neerchal Parishath offered the Gou Pooja. Coconut was used for Tulabharam.
